Isang lalaki mula sa Baytown na si Ty Vaughn, 31, ay naaresto ilang buwan matapos ang pagpatay sa kanyang fiancé na si Luis Banos Norberto, 27. Ayon sa mga pulis, binaril ni Vaughn si Norberto sa mukha noong Enero 14 at sinubukang palabasin na ito ay isang pagpapakamatay.
It happened in their unit on the second floor of the Crosby Green apartments on Crosby Cedar Bayou Road. Initially, Vaughn said he was not home when the incident occurred. But after police reviewed surveillance video and spoke to neighbors, they discovered the truth.
In the video, Vaughn is seen climbing the stairs to their apartment at around 4:05 a.m. — a time when he said he wasn't home. Minutes later, witnesses heard gunshots. At around 4:27 a.m., Vaughn texted Norberto, "Babe? Babe, why are you not texting back?!?!", even though he was already dead by that time. Vaughn called 911 at around 5:38 a.m., about 93 minutes after the incident.
When the police arrived, they found Norberto lying on the bed with a rifle leaning on one of his arms and a torn photo of the two of them near his body. Norberto was shot in the eye with the rifle.
The police also noticed that Vaughn repeatedly mentioned Norberto's immigration status even without asking. When they checked his cellphone, they discovered that Vaughn had Googled, "Can I kill an illegal human?" before the incident.
Vaughn is currently being held on a $500,000 bond and is expected to appear in court Monday morning.
