Chevrolet introduced the new Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept in Mint 400. It will compete in the Open Production EV class, driven by Chad Hall as part of the Hall Racing team. This truck joins the Chevrolet lineup including the Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2.
Using the successful ZR2 formula, the Silverado EV ZR2 has a lifted suspension, Multimatic damper technology, locking differentials, and underbody skid protection for off-road durability. Even though it was just a concept truck, it was built in 5 months using 98% GM production parts.
It is installed with a tri-motor electric system with 1,100 HP and 11,500 lb-ft torque. It has 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires and uses Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve dampers for more extreme off-road performance and more 13 inches of wheel travel front and back.
Chevrolet engineers will join the Hall Racing team at the Mint 400 to gather real-world data to be used in the development of future production vehicles, performance parts, and accessories. According to Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet, racing is the ultimate test for Chevroletengineering. Chad Hall added, their racing experience directly impacts the development of more durable and high-performance vehicles for customers.
