To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic Prospex watch, Seiko has released a three limited edition models: Prospex Marinemaster “Shinkai” 60th Anniversary 600m Saturation Diver, Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT 60th Anniversary, and Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s 60th Anniversary. Each model has a unique design and advanced features for diver’s watch enthusiasts.
In 1965, a professional divergave feedback to Seiko that watches were easily damaged underwater. As a result, the brand created the first Japanese diver’s watchwithautomatic movementand150m water resistance. Now, as a tribute to their first diver’s watch, Seiko has released the Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s 60th Anniversary, inspired by the “62MAS” 1965 Diver. It features a 6R55 automatic caliber, 3-day power reserve, and 300m water resistance, and its design is based on Hokusai’s iconic “The Great Wave.”
The Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT 60th Anniversary, in turn, has a unique dial pattern and a caseback with wave design as a tribute to the 1968 Diver—Seiko's first one-piece case hi-beat diver's watch with 300m water resistance 400;">. It is also the first model to feature a short-pitch bracelet with micro-adjustable clasps, for a more comfortable fit.
Meanwhile, the most high-tech of all, the Prospex Marinemaster “Shinkai” 60th Anniversary 600m Saturation Diver, was made at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. It has a titanium case, superhard coating for scratch resistance, and 8L45 movement for higher performance. Its name "Shinkai" means "deep sea", which is why it has a blue dial that reflects the deep ocean.
The new Seiko Prospex 60th Anniversary Limited Edition watches are priced from £1,270 to £4,130 GBP, which is equivalent to approximately ₱93,700 to ₱304,800. In US dollars, prices range between $1,637 and $5,323 USD, which is approximately ₱93,800 to ₱305,100. These prices are based on current exchange rates as of March 6, 2025.
They are now available for pre-order at Seiko and are expected to be officially available in July for those who want to own an exclusive and collectible Seiko diver’s watch.
