According to The Korea Times, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children's Crime Investigation Division 1 filed a case against the 30-year-old K-pop idol along with two other accomplices.
It started when Seoul Bangbae Police Station received a report in June 2024. They applied for an arrest warrant but the court denied it because "they have already confessed to the crime so there is no need for detention."
In August, authorities summoned Taeil for questioning. But he did not show up due to health problems. His legal team submitted medical documents and a statement from his lawyer.
According to reports, the suspects said that they did not plan what happened.
Taeil, whose real name is Moon Tae-il, debuted in NCT in April 2016 and was a part of NCT U and NCT 127. But he went on hiatus in August 2023 after a motorcycle accident.
On August 28, 2024, he left the group after being involved in a "criminal case related to sexual crime." His agency said that the issue was so serious that they decided to fire him from NCT.
"We have confirmed that Taeil is implicated in a criminal case related to sexual crimes," according to the statement translated by Koreaboo.
"While we are investigating the situation, we found that the issue is so serious that he cannot continue with the group activities. We discussed it with Taeil and decided that he will leave the group."
The NCT has 26 members and five sub-units. Taeil is with NCT 127 and NCT U, who rose to fame with the songs Cherry Bomb, Kick It, Regular, 2 Baddies, Baggy Jeans, Make A Wish, and BOSS.
