Director George Miller, who reignited the Mad Max franchise, has hinted that a new sequel may be on the way.
In an interview with Vulture, Miller said that there is another Mad Max story that is ready to be filmed. He rebooted the franchise in 2015 with Mad Max: Fury Road and last year, released Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth. According to Miller, if the plans align, the new project could go ahead. “We have another script, not just in my mind but already written. I really have a lot of ideas," he said.
When it comes to the direction of the franchise, Miller shared that there are many more stories to tell about Mad Max. “This is not what I will do next, but if the plans align, we can't tell. Sometimes a film is ready to be made, but there are things that don't work out," he added.
In Fury Road, Tom Hardy played the role of Mad. Max who helps Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) escape from the tyranny of Immortan Joe. The film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Zoë Kravitz, and Courtney Eaton. Meanwhile, in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Anya Taylor-Joy played the role of Furiosa.
So far, there is no official confirmation about the new Mad Max sequel.
