The body of a 14-year-old girl was found in a shallow pit in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, after she went missing last week of February.
According to the Davao City Police, his burial place was discovered on the night of March 1 in Brgy. Little Panay, after his real father "Mark" (not his real name) found him.
The victim, who went by the name Cyrille, was last seen with his stepfather, 40-year-old Mark Bernabe, according to witnesses.
Based on the investigation, a worker at the banana plantation said he saw Bernabe and the girl walking together towards the banana plantation before she disappeared.
In the same place, the police noticed a bulge of soil. When they dug it up, they discovered Cyrille's body.
Even when Bernabe initially told the police that his stepdaughter was just missing, the authorities had doubts because there was a sign that the girl was beaten and killed first before being buried in the ground.
Bernabe was arrested, who at first denied the crime but later allegedly confessed after the witness pointed him out.
The investigation in the case is still ongoing.
