Amazon has officially released the new version of Alexa—Alexa+. It's powered by generative AI, so it's smarter, speaks more naturally, and can do more. It's free for Prime members.
According to Amazon's press release, Alexa+ can entertain, help with learning, organize a schedule, explain important topics, and talk about almost anything. It can also manage and protect your home, book reservations, find new artists, and help with online shopping with personalized suggestions.
Alexa's long-awaited generative AI upgrade is designed to make it easier to use voice commands to control a smart home or search for information. There's no need to form full sentences when talking to Alexa+. It also has vision capabilities—it can take and analyze images.
You can use Alexa+ to order groceries, send event invites to friends, and remember personal details like diet and favorite movies. It can also study study guides and give quizzes, as well as research travel itineraries for you.
If you don't have Prime, Alexa+ is priced at $19.99 USD per month. Amazon has also launched a new Alexa app that is compatible with the new assistant. Alexa+ is compatible with almost all Alexa devices, including the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21.
