Zendaya will join the voice cast of Shrek 5 as Felicia, the teenage daughter of Shrek and Fiona. This news was announced in a cast announcement video from Universal Pictures on Friday, Feb. 28. In the said video, Donkey (Eddie Murphy) asks the Magic Mirror: "Hey Magic Mirror, who's the fairest of them all?" to which he replied, "Why, Shrek! Of course.”
In the video, different looks of Shrek are shown, including a clip where he is in a black fitted suit and dancing, as well as a picture where he has sculpted abs. Felicia (Zendaya) responded with, “Ew, dad!” while Fiona (Cameron Diaz) laughs and says, “Oooh, Mommy likey!” Meanwhile, Shrek (Mike Myers) asks, "Who is making this stuff?" before Pinocchio appeared and lied "Not me!" so his nose got longer.
After the announcement, Shrek 5's official Instagram account posted a screenshot of Zendaya's 2017 tweet saying, “I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood.” They captioned it, "This aged well." Shrek 5 is set to hit theaters in December 2026, so many are excited to see the return of this iconic animated franchise.
The first Shrek movie came out in 2001 and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature the following year. It had three sequels: Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek the Third (2007), and Shrek the Third (2007). 400;">Shrek Forever After (2010). There are also Puss in Boots spinoffs in 2011 and 2022. The story revolves around Shrek, an ogre who wants to restore peace to his swamp after being overrun by fairy tale creatures.
Zendaya is famous for her roles in Spider-Man, Spider-Man 400;">Dune, The Challengers, and Euphoria, and now he will enter the world of Shrek. Many fans are excited to hear her as Felicia and see how Shrek and Fiona's family dynamic will change in the new movie.
