Paris-based design studio Waiting For Ideas has launched their first vinyl turntable, following the modern design and premium materials they use in their furniture, objects, and spaces.
Founded in 2021 by designer Jean-Baptiste Anotin, Waiting For Ideas is known for creating art and design pieces that are simple yet powerful. With their first turntable, they focused on providing a relaxing and immersive listening experience using a minimalist design from solid aluminum.
For ease of use, the studio removed the traditional control center and tone arm. Instead, they use advanced technology to automatically determine the record speed. All the user has to do is put the vinyl upside down, connect, and press play. The set also includes custom-made speakers that can be stacked with the turntable or placed separately like a traditional sound setup.
Currently, unique turntable and speaker designs are on the rise, with designers using them as a canvas for modern art and innovation. Some of the notable collaborations are the HELIOT EMIL x Nocs Design’s MONOLITH speaker and Teenage Engineering x John Lennon’s OB-4 Interactive Speaker, both of which have sleek chrome finishes and monolithic looks. Meanwhile, Silence Please, an emerging NY-based brand, makes contemporary Hi-Fi speakers with a gramophone-inspired look.
Waiting For Ideas' PP-1 turntable is now available for custom orders on their official web store.
