HANOI, VIETNAM – A happy birthday celebration turned to tragedy after helium balloons exploded right in front of the birthday girl in Vietnam this Saturday night.
"Suddenly there was a loud explosion and then there was fire. We all panicked," according to one of the attendees.
In the preliminary investigation, it is said that it is possible that there was static electricity or heat from the candle that caused the explosion. According to experts, helium itself is not flammable, but if mixed with hydrogen, it can be dangerous.
The authorities warned to be careful when using balloons at events, especially if there are open flames or spark sources around. For now, the injured guests are recovering, while the birthday girl is safe from serious injury.
