Injured Datu Piang Vice Mayor Atty. Omar Samama after being shot by a man who entered the crowd while he was speaking during a relief operation in Barangay Magaslong, Maguindanao del Sur. He was hit in the chest and is currently being treated in hospital.
According to the report of the United Justice Bangsamoro Party (UJBP) and local police, the incident happened around 9:30 AM. While Samama was giving a speech, a man approached, fired a gun, and immediately fled.
Atty. Samama is the son of Datu Piang Mayor Victor Samama. They both run under the UBJP, the political party of the MILF.
Police Brig. Gen. Romeo Macapaz that the investigation by the police and local officials is ongoing. Meanwhile, the Army 6th Infantry Division is also helping to identify the suspect in the shooting that caused fear in the residents.
