Andrea Brillantes is very grateful for the opportunity to work with veterans and iconic names in showbiz when she joined the cast of the hit ABS-CBN series "FPJ's Batang Quiapo.
In "Tatak BQ: The FPJ's Batang Quiapo 2nd Anniversary Special," the actress admitted that she will use the pressure she feels as inspiration to better her performance in the action-packed series.
Brillantes is a former child star, and she also wants to see her progress as an actress by joining the popular show. "I'll admit that I'm a bit pressured, but I'm even more grateful. The people I'm with here are great, icons and skilled veterans. I'm really starstruck, but I won't let the nervousness swallow me up," he said.
"I will use that pressure as motivation to improve even more. I don't expect to be on par with my colleagues here, but I am excited to see how I will grow as an actress. The experience here at BQ is different. Thank you, director Coco (Martin), thank you," he added.
He said he wanted to enter the action genre for a long time. "I'm ready. I've been requesting for a long time that I want to take action," he said.
When asked if he is ready for the improv style that Coco Martin is known to use as a director, Brillantes admitted that he is more used to scripted, but he is excited about this new experience. "The last time I did improv, I was about 3 years old. I will be pushed to bring back my childhood creativity. I'm nervous but super excited," he said.
Before "Batang Quiapo," Brillantes appeared in "High Street," the sequel to the 2023 drama mystery series "Senior High."
According to Martin, Brillantes himself requested to be in the series. "He told me on Aunt Cory's (Vidanes) birthday, 'Pa-guest at Batang Quiapo.' I said, 'Do you want it?' He couldn't believe it when I immediately fixed the script and story," Martin said.
Aside from Brillantes, the new cast also includes Jake Cuenca, Angel Aquino, Albie Casiño, Juan Rodrigo, Paolo Paraiso, Gillian Vicencio, Shamaine Buencamino, Michael de Mesa, Albert Martinez, Dante Rivero, Chanda Romero, and Celia Rodriguez.
