Lalamove announced that it will start providing online ride-hailing services in the Philippines this February 2025, and it plans to recruit at least 15,000 drivers of hatchbacks, sedans, and multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) by June. According to the company, driver partners can choose to accept orders for passenger transportation during peak hours and delivery orders during non-peak hours depending on demand.
The new service called "Lalamove Ride" will be launched this month in Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Cebu. Initially, Lalamove will charge a 2% commission, while the remaining 98% of revenue will go directly to partner drivers.
Lalamove also said that drivers can accept both delivery and passenger orders, but not at the same time. This move is expected to provide a more flexible source of income for their partner drivers.
"This is an exciting time for driver-partners, and we expect demand to be strong," said Djon Nacario, managing director of Lalamove Philippines. He added that although competition is fierce in the online ride-hailing market, Lalamove has received high demand from users even before the pandemic due to their convenient and affordable service.
Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 2013, Lalamove has expanded its service to 13 markets in Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Lalamove entered the Philippines in 2016 and plans to provide a faster and more efficient on-demand transportation service in the country by June 2025, so that Lalamove users can travel more easily and quickly.
