Mechanical keyboard maker Qwertykeys announced Wednesday that they have temporarily stopped shipping products to the U.S. due to new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. The company, based in Guangdong, said the decision was prompted by the February 1 announcement regarding a 10% tariff on imported goods from China.
"This new policy replaces all previous tariff exemptions, including the exemption for low value parcels of less than $800," according to the company. "As a result, all keyboards from China to the U.S. are now subject to a 45% tariff based on full value."
In addition, logistics giant DHL has also implemented a "tariff deposit," along with a new $21 processing fee for each package.
Qwertykeys is one of the first companies — but it certainly won't be the last — to temporarily stop shipping due to rapidly increasing trading costs under the Trump administration's second term. The new tariffs hit smaller companies with tighter profits the most.
