Many of us have probably experienced the era of Nintendo's "FC game console", known as the red and white machine. To this day, there are still replicas of the red and white machines being released, and its classic games are one of the memories many of us have in seventh grade. We have previously introduced the collector SOMARI, a Japanese, who has a collection of 1,053 games for the Famicom in his house.
But unexpectedly, two years since, SOMARI has announced a breakthrough. He has collected all the "Famicom" and the external "FC Disk Drive" systems, with a total of 1,252 games. He was able to achieve this feat with the help of his friends, and it gained attention from many netizens who retweeted and shared his impressive collection.
According to SOMARI, he used to only collect games for the Famicom, but he noticed that many games were also on the external "FC Disk Drive", so he decided to start collecting old and rare 3-inch floppy disks. Although it was difficult to find them on the market in good quality, he worked with friends and shops to help find them.
After getting the last piece "Tanikawa Hiroshi's Shogi Tutorial 2 New Edition" (Tanikawa Hiroshi's Shogi Guide 2 New Edition), he has completed his collection! He bought it at an online auction for 491,500 yen, which was way beyond his budget, but worth every centavo. It took 22 years and 5 months to complete the entire collection, a truly touching story.
Besides the games, SOMARI also values the original manuals of the manufacturers. When searching the second-hand market, he pays close attention to the condition of the items. This is due to his years of collecting experience and the help of friends who are willing to sell.
One of the games that impressed him was "Super Mario Bros. 2" released on the FC disk drive. This game was once described by gamer Jon Irwin as "as hard as climbing the sky". Although Mario or Luigi can be used, Shigeru Miyamoto added tricks (reverse jump level mechanism & hidden world) because the first generation was said to be too easy.
Are you in awe of this unique collection? These classic games remain in the memories of many people. I sincerely admire SOMARI's persistence to collect these games. Do you have a collection that you are proud of? Share it with us!
