The AC Cobra has seen many generations since Carroll Shelby first combined the AC Ace with a Ford-sourced V8 engine in 1962. Now, a new version is on the way—the all-new AC Cobra GT Roadster, due in 2025.
AC Cars, with a new HQ at Donington Park, will build this modern Cobra. It will use a V8 engine with 654bhp and 575lb ft of torque. While the source of the engine has not yet been announced, it will have the option of a 6-speed manual or 10-speed auto gearbox. It targets a 0-60mph time of just 3.4 seconds and weighs less than 1,500kg. It is longer and wider compared to previous AC Cobra models.
The design of the updated Cobra was done by Icona Design Group. Its body is carbon composite wrapped in a new Italian-designed aluminum spaceframe chassis.
Its interior is special, with hand-finished unique elements that are new to the automotive industry. Additionally, it has electric windows, climate control, and a full infotainment system.
