Filipino-American musician Bruno Mars touted his new streaming success, and included a joke about a debt issue that went viral.
Bruno became the first artist to reach 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify, boosted by his latest release "Fat Juicy & Wet" with Sexyy Red.
Two previous collaborations, "Die With A Smile" with Lady Gaga and "APT" also helped her success. with Blackpink's Rose.
The first song is now the fastest track in Spotify history to reach one billion streams (96 days), while the latter reached the same number just a few days ago to become the second fastest (100 days) and the fastest for a K-pop artist, beating BTS' Jungkook's "Seven."
Both of these add to at least 15 other Bruno songs that have reached one billion plays on the streaming platform, including "Just the Way You Are," "When I Was Your Man," "That's What I Like," "Locked Out of Heaven," and "Uptown Funk."
The singer reposted the announcement on her Instagram story with text that read, "Keep streaming! I'll be out of debt in no time."
The mention of the debt is a reference to stories that circulated last year that Bruno owed $50 million (P2.9 billion) to MGM Resorts International, although the company denied these claims.
In fact, Bruno recently extended his longtime residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas, where he will perform seven additional shows through the end of the year.
Although he hasn't released a solo album since 2016, Bruno is nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the upcoming Grammy Awards, for "Die With A Smile."
