Bose has unveiled four new colors of its clip-on Ultra Open Earbuds, a colorful option to finish off the dreary colors of winter.
Launched in February of last year, Bose's first attempt at open earbuds made the Boston-based brand popular. It is designed as an alternative to the traditional in-ear buds that are often used, as they are connected to the ear like mini speakers, unlike in-ear models that go into the ear canal. This is ideal for people who want a natural “transparency mode,” where they can hear the sounds around them because the earbuds don't cover the noise from the outside.
The earbuds are extremely light and comfortable, and due to the clip-on design, they are easy to use even for long periods of time. The clamping pressure of the earbuds on the ear is so light that you hardly feel you are wearing them. Additionally, unlike in-ear models that sink into the ear, open earbuds eliminate the uncomfortable feeling of pressure caused by some noise-cancelling earbuds.
Users can expect up to 7.5 hours of battery life per charge (with an additional 19 hours in the charging case) and the buds are Bluetooth 5.3 compatible (Android users can also take advantage of Google Fast Pair). These include the Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite and the latest Qualcomm aptX Adaptive codec for hi-res audio streaming.
The original Bose Ultra Open Earbuds launched last year boasted the brand combining fashion accessory and wearable tech – it first launched with Kith. The four new colors – “Sunset Iridescent”, “Carbon Blue”, “Chilled Lilac”, and “Sandstone” – are designed to make a statement.
The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are available now on their website for $299 USD / £299 GBP.
