In celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year, Parmigiani Fleurier has launched a new version of its Tonda PF Xiali Chinese Calendar in rose gold. In 2023, the Swiss Maison presented its first Chinese Calendar timepiece, made of stainless steel with a matching integrated bracelet. The latest version replaces the steel build with a more sophisticated rose gold one, giving the detailed model an extra touch of luxury.
With a 42mm case made of 18-carat rose gold, the watch has an elegant knurled bezel also made of the same material. Its majestic dial has an Imperial Red color with a guilloché patterned finish. Around the hour markers are located the 24 solar terms, symbolizing the different phases of the agricultural calendar, adding cultural depth to the design.
At the twelve o'clock position, a three-level subdial displays the name of the year, along with its associated zodiac animal and element. This detailed feature pays homage to the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, deepening the meaning of the watch. The subdial at nine o'clock displays the 12 months in Chinese characters, while the subdial at three o'clock features the day and indicates whether it is a long or short date, providing a comprehensive and intuitive layout for the user .
The moon phase indication subdial at the six o'clock position adds another layer of sophistication and functionality to the watch. This feature not only enhances the visual appeal but also serves as a practical tool for tracking lunar cycles. The harmonious blend of these elements creates a visually balanced and pleasing dial that meets both practical needs and artistic appreciation.
Through the sapphire crystal open caseback, the meticulously crafted PF008 Caliber with Côtes de Genève finish, beveled bridges, and a 22-carat rose gold skeletonized oscillating weight can be seen.
The Tonda PF Xiali Chinese Calendar in rose gold will be released on January 29, coinciding with the start of the Lunar New Year to celebrate the Year of the Wood Snake.
