GameSir has announced their latest launch, the Tarantula Pro, a multi-platform gaming controller with unique features and functionality. While its design may look familiar, resembling Sony PlayStation's DualShock 4 controller (a candidate for the GOAT gaming controller in our opinion), the Tarantula Pro is one of the most unique controllers released recently.
Like most modern controllers, the Tarantula Pro is compatible with multiple platforms, specifically Switch, PC, iOS, and Android. But what makes it stand out from the rest is its ability to replace the face buttons, allowing users to swap between Switch or Xbox-style (where “A and B” and “X and Y ” is replaced) with just one click.
GameSir achieved this by using LEDs to light up the buttons from inside the controller, instead of physically labeling the “ABXY” buttons, and an internal mechanism powered by a motor that performs a change when pressed of the user the corresponding button. Usually, gamers have to choose between a controller with a Switch or Xbox layout, which is why the Tarantula Pro is a kind of two-in-one.
The Tarantula Pro is a powerful controller when it comes to performance, thanks to magnetic TMR joysticks and Hall Effect analog triggers that bring a very precise and responsive experience. The controller features nine customizable buttons that can be mapped according to users' personal needs. This can be done using GameSir mobile and PC apps, as well as without using apps through special key combinations.
It also features HD rumble that can be tweaked and adjusted according to your preference. The controller has a built-in six-axis gyroscope that makes it compatible not only with Switch games that use this function, but also with many PC games on platforms like Steam. Additionally, for Switch users, the Tarantula Pro has NFC built-in, so it can wake up the Nintendo handheld with just one tap.
There are customizable RGB lights on top of the Tarantula Pro, above the home button and the aforementioned ABXY buttons. All of this can be personalized using the GameSir apps, where different colors can be chosen for each light, as a group or even individually. Can also create and save multiple color profiles, which allows to quickly return to the previous color scheme.
Inside the box, you'll find a 2.4GHz dongle for low-latency wireless connection, as well as a 3-foot (1-meter) USB cable for both charging and wired gameplay. There's also a charging dock specially made for the Tarantula Pro – it's available separately or as part of a bundle when purchased direct from GameSir.
Tarantula Pro is available now on the GameSir website priced at £69.99 GBP / $69.99 USD for the standard edition, or £79.99 GBP / $79.99 USD for the controller including charging station.
