Lamborghini and the Italian State Police are celebrating two decades of collaboration, which began in 2004 when a Lamborghini Gallardo was delivered. Over the years, Lamborghini has supplied six high-performance vehicles, each tailored to serve unique purposes, from high-speed patrols to life-saving organ transports.
The collaboration began with the Gallardo 510-4, a model with a 5L V10 engine, widely used for patrol and medical emergencies. Its successor the Gallardo LP 560-4 brought improved performance with a 5.2L engine, advanced stability systems and special equipment such as refrigerated compartments for organ transport and onboard defibrillators.
In 2014, Lamborghini introduced the Huracán LP 610-4 with a 5.2L V10 engine capable of reaching speeds of 201 mph. Its advanced aerodynamic design and emergency equipment have been essential to critical medical deliveries, including a life-saving kidney transport in 2023.
Recently, the Italian Police received the Urus Performante, a high-performance SUV with a twin-turbo V8 engine, which has 656 hp and can reach a speed of 190 mph. Beyond speed, the Urus has cutting-edge public safety equipment, including weapon storage, a defibrillator, and a refrigerated compartment for medical missions.
In two decades, Lamborghini police vehicles have completed more than 200 urgent organ transports and participated in 1,500 road safety events. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, referred to the collaboration as a symbol of national pride and technological excellence, stating: "We are very proud to celebrate 20 years of collaboration with the Italian State Police, an institution we respect for their daily work protecting the safety of Italian citizens.
Knowing that our vehicles have helped police operations and contributed to saving lives is very satisfying. This collaboration represents a strong relationship between Automobili Lamborghini and Italy and its institutions, despite our international perspective."
