First shown as a concept at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, the new Prelude will feature Honda's two-motor hybrid powertrain and introduce the innovative S+ Shift drive mode, promising a more exciting driving experience. According to Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales, "The return of the Honda Prelude as a hybrid-electric sports model is proof of our continued dedication to offer a variety of exciting products to meet the demand of our customers.”
The Prelude has a unique place in Honda's history, first introduced in November 1978 as part of its original trio of passenger cars along with the Civic and Accord. Known for its sporty design and performance, the Prelude also pioneered technologies such as four-wheel steering (4WS) and torque-vectoring Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS).
The all-new hybrid-electric sports coupe is expected to launch in the United States in late 2025. So far, there is no information about its price.
