Chris Evans may return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday.
According to The Wrap, the details of Evans' role in Doomsday are still unclear. Although Evans bid farewell to his iconic role as Steve Rogers/Captain America in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers has aged, The Wrap indicates that Robert Downey Jr.'s role could be similar. Evans' return.
While Tony Stark/Iron Man is confirmed to have died in Endgame, a variant of Stark will appear as Doctor Doom in Doomsday. There is also speculation that Evans will return as Johnny Storm from the Fox Fantastic Four movies — a character he also played in Deadpool and Wolverine — but there is no confirmation yet.
Neither Marvel nor Evans has yet commented on the news.
Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, is slated for release on May 1, 2026.
