Disney has officially released the first teaser for the upcoming Lilo & Stitch live-action film.
The 30-second teaser shows a glimpse of the Hawaiian coastline, which serves as the setting of the film. Stitch is seen causing mischief in a sandcastle. According to the official logline, the film will focus on "the bond formed between a lonely young girl, Lilo, and an alien dog-like creature, Stitch, who was designed to be a force of destruction."
Dean Fleischer Camp is set to direct the film, and Chris Sanders will return to voice Stitch. The cast includes Maia Kealoha, Zach Galifianakis, Sydney Agudong, Billy Magnussen, and Courtney B. Vance. The live-action film will be released 23 years after the original movie, which earned $273 million USD globally.
The story is about six-year-old Lilo and her teenage sister Nani, who live in Hawaii. They adopt a genetically engineered "dog" called Experiment 626 (Stitch). Over the years, many spin-offs of Lilo & Stitch have been created for TV and film.
The live-action film will be released on May 23, 2025.
