A24 is revisiting '90s nostalgia with their upcoming disaster-comedy project. Titled Y2K, the first trailer for the upcoming film from the production studio takes us back to the colorful and vibrant New Year's Eve of 1999, marking the infamous arrival of the 21st century.
According to the official movie description directed by Kyle Mooney, "On the final night of 1999, two high school juniors attend a New Year's Eve party, but often find themselves fighting for their lives in a dial-up disaster comedy."
The trailer begins with Bill Clinton's Y2K message, where he opens with, "Ladies and gentlemen, we are releasing our final report on the Y2K computer problem."
As a result, viewers are taken to a classic and typical house party from the late '90s, featuring actors like Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison, and Rachel Zegler. As the chaos and panic rise among the party guests, some scenes are intercut with Clinton's speech and nostalgic footage from the '90s.
"Party like it's 1999," says a message on the screen, followed by "Die like it's Y2K."
"Do you think we'll even graduate?" asks a guest at the end of a one-minute trailer.
