Harbour, who played Red Guardian in the film, presented the trailer to attendees at the event. Thunderbolts is expected to be Marvel's answer to DC's Suicide Squad — with both teams made up of antiheroes and villainous characters from their respective universes. The film will follow the group as they carry out dangerous missions for humanity. The story is based on the comic series by Kurt Busiek of the same name. Directed by Jake Schreier, the film is produced by Kevin Feige, with executive producers Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and Scarlett Johansson. The script is written by Eric Pearson, known for his work on Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok, Transformers One, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, alongside Lee Sung Jin from Beef and Joanna Calo from The Bear.
Pugh is expected to reprise her role as Yelena Belova from Black Widow, Stan as the Winter Soldier, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the mastermind Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Marvel's superhero film is slated for release in theaters on May 2, 2025. Watch the extended trailer above.
