At the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Toyota unveiled the GR86 Rally Legacy Concept, an exciting tribute to its iconic rally heritage. Designed as a modern reimagining of the legendary 1990s Celica GT-Four rally cars, this concept blends the classic spirit of rally with Toyota's latest performance engineering.
The GR86 Rally Legacy Concept, based on the 2024 GR86 Performance Package, integrates a 3-cylinder turbocharged GR-FOUR AWD system borrowed from the GR Corolla. This powertrain modification required extensive changes to the GR86’s chassis and suspension. A custom subframe and engine mounts were added to accommodate the G16E-GTS engine, along with bespoke front suspension components and custom coil-over dampers. The rear axle setup includes the GR Corolla’s differential, ensuring a balanced power distribution and seamless functionality of the electronics.
In terms of visuals, the GR86 Rally Legacy Concept features a Halo White exterior with accents of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s red and green color palette, large red rally mudflaps, and a Celica GT-Four-inspired spoiler. Inside, the vehicle is equipped with racing seats, red six-point harnesses, and a full white-painted roll cage, enhancing its rally-ready vibe.
This concept is a dream come true for GR and Toyota Rally fans," said Mike Tripp, Vice President of Marketing at Toyota, who added, "It’s a tribute to our rally legacy and a celebration of our motorsports future.
The GR86 Rally Legacy Concept, with 300 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, will be on display for viewers from November 5 to 8 at Toyota's booth in the Central Hall.
