X is making a controversial update to its block feature. Users will now have the ability to view public posts, even if they are blocked.
If you block a user, while they can view your content, they will not be able to interact with your posts or follow you. Users will also be able to see the follower and following lists, even for those they have blocked.
Many people are criticizing this decision, claiming that it enables harassment and makes it easier for users to target victims. However, X links the change to "greater transparency."
"Now, users can use the block to share and hide harmful or private information about the people they've blocked," the company said. "Users will be able to see if such behavior occurs in this update, providing greater transparency."
In September, Elon Musk announced his plan to change the block feature.
