The opening of the Sony Pictures' Venom: The Last Dance has seen more success than the previous ones film in the North American franchise. It will earn $22 million USD from 4,131 domestic theaters from Friday and previews, though the numbers are lower than the first day of first and second Venom movie.
The first Venom film released in 2019 earned $32 million
USD on the first day, and its sequel in 2021 which Let There Be Carnage reached $37 million USD, made into Venom: The Last Dance the lowest franchise income to date. This lower number is behind initial estimates and forecasts that originally expected the film to reach $65 million USD on its opening weekend. Although The Last Dance continues to decline for the franchise, it's on track to become the film with the biggest opening weekend since Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in September. The first Venom film grossed $642 million USD at the international box office while the second reached $293 million USD overseas.
Although the The Last Dance had a tighter budget than most superhero films at $120 million USD, the reviews are not good. Fans seemed less enthusiastic this time around, earning a B- from Cinemascore. In this film, Hardy returns as the jaded journalist Eddie Brock in the lead role. He joins Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Cristo Fernandez and Stephen Graham who appeared in the second film.
