TikTok owner ByteDance has entered the world of hardware with their first pair of earbuds. Called Ola Friend, these earbuds will be launched exclusively in China.
The main advantage of the earbuds is that they contain the company's AI chatbot, which can be used even without a smartphone. They have an open ear design and are designed to "be an audio assistant when the user is traveling, learning English, listening to music, or looking for a companion," according to the South China Morning Post.
To turn on the earbuds, the user just needs to say “Doubao Doubao,” a word from ByteDance's generative AI model, according to SCMP.
The Ola Friend buds are priced at ¥1,199 CNY (approximately PHP 9,700) and will launch on October 17, exclusively in China.
