Rolls-Royce unveiled the unique Specter Lunaflair, a spectacular Bespoke vehicle for a well-known but unnamed client from the U.S. The vehicle is inspired by the beauty of the lunar halo, an optical phenomenon where light refracts off ice crystals, forming a rainbow-like ring around the moon. Rolls-Royce has captured this celestial wonder through a complex holographic paint finish, giving it a mesmerizing technicolor effect.
Development of the unique Lunaflair paint took a year, requiring thorough experimentation with paint chemistry, application timing, and base coats. The end result has seven layers of lacquer, including a pearlescent coat infused with magnesium fluoride and aluminum flakes.
The idea for the Specter Lunaflair came from a previous Rolls-Royce creation, the Phantom Syntopia. Inspired by its iridescent Liquid Noir finish, the commissioning client requested a lighter and brighter expression, which allowed the development of the Lunaflair concept. Inside, the Specter Lunaflair reflects the lunar halo theme with a custom interior with Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink accents. These colors complement the seats, doors, and the signature Starlight Headliner. The design also extends to the dual-tone steering wheel, which is Navy Blue on the outside and Arctic White on the inside.
As a testament to its exclusivity, only one Specter Lunaflair will ever be made, making it a true work reserved exclusively for its commissioning client.
