DC Studios is busy making a new film, and this time, villains are at the center of the story. Variety has confirmed that DC has hired screenwriter Matthew Orton, known for writing the script for Captain America: Brave New World, for the upcoming feature film focusing on Batman villains Bane and Deathstroke.
Although the script is still in the works, no director or actors have been assigned to the project yet. DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have been vocal in the past that projects don't get greenlit until the screenplay is complete. It is obvious that in the world of entertainment, especially in superhero films, villains are becoming the main focus. Some examples of this are HBO's The Penguin and Disney+'s Agatha All Along. Following Warner Bros. is Joker: Folie à Deux and at Sony, Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven the Hunter.
The characters Bane and Deathstroke have appeared in previous DC adaptations. Tom Hardy played Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, while Joe Manganiello was previously linked to this character, also known as Slade Wilson, in Justice League and Zack Snyder's Justice League. As of now, there is no word on when the screenplay will be finished. Stay tuned for more information.
