Bottega Veneta's relationship with design beyond fashion is long-standing, but in recent years, the brand has become known for their extra-curricular activities – from Gaetano Pesce chairs to collaborations with the Le Corbusier Foundation.
Now, for the runway of their SS25 show, Matthieu Blazy looks to another design icon – the Zanotta Sacco. First created in 1968, the Sacco is an elevated version of the simple bean bag, and the design has been so successful that it was awarded the Compasso d'Oro Lifetime Achievement award in 2020.
For Blazy, this object reminded him of the first Bottega Veneta bags, especially because of its softness, flexibility, and malleability. He likes how low it is to the ground, and what perspective it gives – “You have a different perspective when you sit here,” he says.
