Ever since director Todd Philips announced that Lady Gaga will join Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to Joker (2019), DC fans and Gaga have been feeling all excitement. Now, with the film's October release just around the corner, Gaga has posted a new trailer on her social media to show fans what to expect from her Harley Quinn-inspired character Lee.
In this new trailer, Lee's character can be seen more. Compared to Margot Robbie's over-the-top performance as Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad franchise, here, Lee/Harley is an unsuspecting woman who falls for the Joker's antics, and eventually becomes his partner in crime.
When production began in 2022, it was thought that there would be a musical element to the sequel. Gaga and Phoenix's vocal performance was shown live on set at the recent Venice Film Festival, per Gaga's request. The voice of the award-winning artist can be heard in the new trailer, where he has an epic rendition of the song "That's Life" by Frank Sinatra.
This is Gaga's third time acting in a major production, following her Oscar-nominated roles as Ally in A Star is Born (2018) and House of Gucci (2021). On the music side, the first single from his much-anticipated album codenamed “LG7” will be released a few days after the premiere of the movie.
Joker: Folie à Deux opens exclusively in theaters on October 4, 2024. Tickets are available now on Fandango.
