DS Automobiles has introduced the long-awaited SM TRIBUTE, a tribute to the legendary Citroën SM, celebrating ten years of avant-garde DS design. SM TRIBUTE made its debut at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance event, showing the brand's respect for the past while highlighting their vision for the future.
Designed by DS DESIGN STUDIO PARIS, the SM TRIBUTE brings back to life the iconic 1970 Citroën SM, known for its aerodynamic design and innovative technology. The reinterpretation is faithful to the spirit of the original while taking into account modern design elements. The sleek and muscular silhouette features a reinterpretation of the classic Gold Leaf color from 1971, combined with a modern bi-tone look and aerodynamic 22-inch wheels.
The design stays true to SM's iconic long bonnet and its trademark rear quarter-panel design, while modern additions, such as the 3D light-up screen at the front, combine vintage charm with futuristic technology. Inside, the SM TRIBUTE features a reinterpreted version of the dashboard from the 1970s, offering a projection-based display and immersive sound and lighting features, maintaining the spirit of luxury and innovation.
Thierry Metroz, Design Director at DS Automobiles, emphasized the importance of combining legacy with patriotic design: “We respect the original design while reinforcing it with details that hint at future DS Automobiles projects.”
