Huawei has introduced the world's first mass-produced tri-fold mobile phone, the Mate XT. Huawei has announced the launch of its three-sided concave screen phone in the Chinese market. It is also the first three-sided screen concave folding mobile phone released for mass production, with the thinnest body of only 3.6mm. When open, the display screen is 10.2 inches, while it is 6.4 inches when folded. The thickness is 12.8mm. When the two screens are open, the display area is 7.9 inches, and the total screen resolution is 2234 x 3184.
To achieve the characteristics of Mate XT, the design provides support to the screen when it is open, to maintain normal use even when it is open.
The screen uses an OLED display panel and is made of multi-directional concave soft material, which can respond to the stretching and squeezing forces of the three-sided screen concave folding mobile phone that requires both outward and inward folding. The rotating shaft is made of anti-deformation strength rocket steel that reaches 1900MPa.
However, Huawei did not disclose the lifespan of the mobile phone's hinge or the number of times the screen can be used normally when cut.
The total weight of the Mate XT is 298 grams. It can be unlocked through side fingerprint recognition as identity verification. It is available in two colors: red and dark black. The details of the processor have not been revealed, but it supports 5G networking function. Memory is 16GB, with storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The battery has 5600mAh specifications and supports 66W wired fast charging, 5W reverse charging, as well as 50W wireless charging and 7.5W wireless reverse charging.
The camera has an 8-megapixel video lens, while the main rear camera has a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens, accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, supporting up to 5.5x optical zoom.
The Mate XT will be supported by Andy Lau and is available for pre-order in the Chinese market from today. It will be available at a price starting at RMB 19,999 and going up to RMB 23,999.
Currently, apart from Huawei, manufacturers like Xiaomi, OPPO, and TECNO are also planning to launch products with the same design.
