Ojas founder Devon Turnbull and heritage audio brand Klipsch have officially launched their limited edition collaboration on speakers. When Klipsch contacted Turnbull for a special project, he immediately agreed and later admitted that he was impressed with the sound of the Klipsch Heresy IV. At a recent launch event in NYC, Turnbull admitted, “I think if I had approached Klipsch, it might not have been a project. Fortunately, it happened in the opposite direction.”
Now, the two have created the k0-R1 collaborative two-way loudspeaker. The speaker measures 15.5” x 24.81” x 13.25” and is considered the smallest offering within the Klipsch Heritage Series. Turnbull suggests the speaker as a good starting point for those new to high-efficiency speakers. In the same dimensions as the Heresy, it is made from Baltic birch plywood and joined using butt joints. It sits on a KS-12 stand and has an adjustable sandcast aluminum horn made with a 3D printer. Turnbull opted for a two-way design by removing the tweeter, simplifying the process he said, “Any time you can simplify something in audio, as a general rule, it's worth trying.”
Limited to 100 pieces, the speaker is handcrafted and comes in gray lacquer and red oak veneer. Each pair is priced at $8,498 USD and will be available exclusively at Ojas while supplies last.
