Snow Fox is a character you can find in Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong. When you finish his side quest, it will unlock a secret boss you can fight and you'll also get a unique Curio.
Where is the Snow Fox Found
To meet the fox, continue your journey through Chapter 3 until you reach the Valley of Ecstasy, located near the end of the chapter. After you slide down an icy mountain road, you'll reach the Forest of Felicity. To the left of the Forest of Felicity Keeper's Shrine, you'll find a skeletal body leaning against a pole at the start of a wooden path.
Approach the body and interact with it to learn about the fox guai whose soul resides in it. You have to keep encouraging the fox to tell the story throughout the interaction to get his full story. According to the story, the fox was caught in a hunter's trap and rescued by a young scholar. Despite the fox's attempt to thank the scholar by helping him, the scholar ends up killing the fox. Seeking revenge, the fox tracks down the scholar, who is now a monk at the New Thunderclap Temple – a place you'll be visiting soon.
Returning to Fox Form
Just like the previous transformations, when you are in this form and get hit, you will instantly return to your original form. The difference this time is that you can rest at a Keeper's Shrine and use the Snow Fox Brush from your inventory to return to fox form.
Although you will automatically transform into a fox, we recommend not thinking about it until you are ready to explore the New Thunderclap Temple. To get there, follow the wooden path behind the body and turn right when you see the stone statues.
Continue following the snowy path through the arches. You'll pass a red arch with torches, where you'll turn left and reach the Longevity Road Keeper's Shrine.
From here, go through the arch behind it and go right. Go up the stairs and you'll be at the beginning of the New Thunderclap Temple.
If this is your first time visiting, you will need to face a boss before you can enter. But after that, you can go and activate the Temple Entrance Keeper's Shrine. Turn right from the shrine and go into the building ahead.
Go to the other end of the building, where you'll see two sets of stairs. Grab the one on the left and go up.
Once at the top, turn right and look for the stairs on the left. Go down here and go straight to the building.
As you enter, stay on the right side of the building and go up the stairs again. This will take you to the top of the building, where you need to exit through the door on the left. Once you're on the balcony, turn right, and then turn right again to find a wooden bridge.
Go up the sloped wooden bridge, and go straight up the stairs on the left. This will take you to the temple where the monk is. However, this is also when you'll need to be in fox form. Doing so will activate a cutscene and trigger a boss battle against the Yaoguai Chief Non-Void. Transform into the fox by using the Snow Fox Brush from your inventory, then go inside the temple.
Yaoguai Chief Boss - Non-Void
In this fight, you'll notice Non-Void disappear from time to time, either as a reflexive dodging move to counter your attacks, or between his own attacks. He will often throw a punch or kick, and quickly spin away to become almost invisible and put some distance between the two of you. Additionally, he can become completely invisible and quickly cross the other side of the room.
To combat this, you need to encourage him to stay as still as possible. So in this fight, you have to be aggressive to try to break the flow of his attacks and keep him stunned for a longer period of time.
Use Spirits capable of dealing heavy damage like the Wandering Wight. If you can land the head-smashing Faithful Kowtow move on him, you can knock him out for good. This will cause him to stop for a moment, giving you a chance to quickly dash in to continue combos.
Combine this with spells like Pluck of Many to drown him in attacks, and transformations. Azure Dust is effective if you can keep him pinned, so you can continue heavy attacks and build Might for a finisher while doing so. Alternatively, Red Tides are great due to the fast nature of the attacks, and the ability to deal burn damage.
If you're having trouble finding the right moment to attack, try to immobilize him as much as possible with Immobilize. We also recommend that you have Cloud Step for this fight so you can match his dashing speed. By using Cloud Step, you can get the upper hand on him once and surprise him.
The biggest attack he does is spinning papers to create a tornado that will follow you around the temple. You can dodge it or run away, but he'll use it as cover to get to you. In the latter part of this move, the papers will start to fall and there will be a time where he doesn't move very much. This is the perfect moment to use Immobilize or quickly attack repeatedly.
Any chance you get where you can knock him back, keep attacking. When he is off balance, he will be slower to return to his pattern of attacks and you can continue to finish combos and use your Focus points for heavier attacks.
When you defeat him, you will get 1x Tonifying Decoction, 2x Cold Iron Leaves, Blood of the Iron Bull, 1,201 Will, and you can get Non-Void's spirit.
How to Complete the Snow Fox Mission
Once you defeat Non-Void, return to the fox guai near the Forest of Felicity Keeper's Shrine. Examine the body and finally the spirit of the fox will be free. At the end of the mission, you will get a Snow Fox Brush Curio.
