Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong begins outside a Village in the Yellow Wind Ridge, spreading out to reach many areas. Below you will find a guide for the first main area of Yellow Wind Ridge: Sandgate Village, as well as how to defeat its many bosses which include Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw, the Earth Wolf, the King of Flowing Sands and his First and Second Rat Princes
In the second chapter of Black Myth Wukong, you will leave the forests of Black Wind Mountain for the dry sands of Yellow Wind Ridge. A lively (but headless) man playing a Chinese stew (sanxian) will begin the story for this place, and resurrect our Destined One from being a pin cushion full of arrows.
Yellow Wind Ridge
Once you regain control, go to the shallow pond, where you'll find some Jade Lotus that you can harvest. To the right, you'll see the source of the arrows that hit you, as a nearby cliff is full of Rat Archers that will shoot fire arrows from above.
Run away from them in the water until you find a small ledge you can climb up, where a Rat Soldier will engage you from the left. Be sure to dodge to keep the archers between you and the soldier, and encourage him to use his shield slam before he gets hit with a heavy attack to break his shield (shield health can be seen as a white bar above his health bar ).
Cross the small wooden bridge to see another Rat Soldier below the two Rat Archers, and try to keep him away and hide if you can. To fight the archers, use your Cloud Step to dodge their fire and defeat the main targets before working downwards, using your staff spin to deflect while waiting for your Cloud Step to recharge. Be careful, because they can also throw grenades that can explode in your face without warning.
There is a large stone arch behind the archers with a new violet Licorice plant that you can harvest, and stone steps beyond lead to an altar with a special Lambbrew Drink for your Gourd. Unlike Coconut Wine's instant healing, it will heal a small amount at first, but a larger portion of your health bar over time. However, you'll notice that it can only be upgraded once, as opposed to the many tiers of health increases you can invest in other potions.
Return to the pond, and you'll see the waterway extending a bit past some Croaky frog enemies, as well as a new type of Rat standing on the riverbank. This Rat Governor wields an electric staff, which he can charge up and zapp you from a distance after a flourish, or perform a backflip to zapp you in mid-air. If you take enough shock damage, you'll reach a state where all incoming damage is doubled, so avoid these blasts at all costs and kill him with Immobilize.
Past the Rat Governor, you can see a sunken pit at the bottom with a large Toad Yaoguai, but for now it's best to go back to where the first Rat Soldier was and find a path up the hills that passes through the pit this.
Keep following some wooden scaffolding over a cliff leading back to the pit, and you'll see a settlement ahead, with the first of the Keeper's Shrines guarded by another Rat Soldier.

Be sure to take the time to see the new additions to Chapter 2's Shrines menu. Note that you can still freely fast travel back to any Shrine in Chapter 1's Black Wind Mountain if you missed any secrets. The shop also sells very different items than the previous chapter, and you'll notice the selection will change based on what chapter you're in:

Additionally, you'll also gain access to crafting a new set of armor since defeating the Black Wind King: The Ebongold Set, which provides better defense and some bonuses to using your Cloud Step. Also, with the Flame Ebongold from the boss itself, you can use it and other ingredients to craft the Wind Bear Staff!
Before entering the village, it's time to finally find a use for all the plant materials you've accumulated. Just look beyond the shrine for a small canal running under a wooden bridge. You can explore the left side to find an upward path to a green Wisp to absorb, and where a mushroom is actually a Lingzhiling creature in disguise. Beware of its poisonous attack, and kill it to get a large variety of items from the mushroom. The canal also leads under the large town gate, but aside from the Fragrant Jade Flower that can be harvested, there isn't much else here.
Follow the canal to the opposite side of the road under the bridge, and head right into a tunnel. Inside, besides a green Wisp that you can absorb for some Will and a mushroom that can be harvested, you can find a gruff but friendly dog god.
Xu Dog, as he's known, has a problem that needs help: A large frog has swallowed one of his drug formulas, and you're the person he's looking for to get it back.
LA version SA mini-boss that guy Y AO strange chief - Lang-l i-GU very good - BA ask
The frog in question you may have seen from the lake earlier, in a large sunken pit nearby. While he has many similarities to the other optional frog boss from Black Wind Mountain, he has some new attacks that you need to prepare for.
This particular boss has lightning power, and like the Rat Governor you faced, he'll try to shock you over and over again until you experience a debuff that increases all the damage you take. Fortunately, the Shrine shop sells some Shock-Quelling Powder if you're having trouble surviving these attacks.
Aside from the familiar hand slaps and ground pounds that he can do quickly, many of his other attacks now have lightning effects, including his sweeping tongue-lash attack. You can avoid this tongue lash by dashing to the side with Cloud Step, and hit from the side for extra damage. Sometimes the tongue lash can shoot out straight, so always steer the tongue towards the sides instead of back.
Make sure not to attack too much from behind the toad, as his quick hop mule kick can do a lot of damage without warning. If you see his arms crossed, he will inflate his chest for a frontal assault.
Some of its new electricity attacks can deal a lot of damage if you're not ready to deal with them. What is usually said is when the frog's throat swells with electric energy. He'll then fire dozens of electrified tadpoles — sometimes in a large frontal arc around him, and sometimes he'll just blow them out and scatter them around him.
Enemies are hard to avoid, so it's good to use Pillar Stance to gain height off the floor and distance yourself from the electric tadpoles.
When the frog lets out a loud chirping sound and raises its body, it summons a storm that rains lightning across the arena. Watch for signs of approaching lightning to avoid it as it strikes.
If you're having a hard time dealing with his lightning attacks, use Immobilize whenever you see him charging to interrupt his attack, and reduce his ability to electrify.
After you defeat the frog boss, it will leave behind an Evil Repelling Medicament formula. Return it to the Xu dog outside the pit. Aside from the fact that he will give you 2 Evil Repelling Medicaments as a reward, you will also unlock the ability to create various consumables at any Shrine. With the amount of materials you get, you can stock up on defensive, offensive, and status-reducing consumables.
Before leaving the area, be sure to look around the rim of the pit where the Xu Dog is, and you'll find a high passage leading to a small altar with a giant statue head, and a Meditation Spot in front of it, which will give you a free Spark Skill Point.
Heading back towards the main Sandgate Village, you'll notice the large gate is closed, and there are Rat Archers on the roof where you can't reach them.
Instead, get out of their range and look for a small altar on top of the hill on the right that has a chest, where you'll find 3x Tiny Piece of Gold and 2x Silk.
Beyond the chest, you'll see another wide plain. Head right and down the hill to the long wooden path, where you'll find a way back to where Xu Dog was, and get a green Wisp for his Will.
Take the left path to reach the next open area where you will encounter a Rat Soldier and a Rat Governor. Encourage the Soldier to get out of range of the Governor's lightning attacks to deal with them one at a time, and don't go too far as there are additional enemies and archers waiting ahead.

May malaking pintuan sa kanan, at sa harap nito ay isang Rat Captain na may dalawang ulo. Sila ay napaka-ferocious, parehong may mabigat na espada, at ang kanilang kakaibang kombinasyon ng ulo:
One head emits smoke, while the other shoots fire. In fact, blinding smoke can be ignited by a second head to cause large explosions, so avoid smoke at all costs.
They can also ignite their sword to cause additional fire damage, and even after you defeat them, they will begin to emit smoke and fire uncontrollably until they explode and destroy everything in the vicinity. The good news is that they can't be revived, so you'll only have to deal with the two in this area once.
Preventing the large door to the right from opening, notice the large valley in the opposite direction where the second Rat Captain is guarding. The top of the cliff is filled with many Rat Archers, with another Rat Archer on the roof to the left making it difficult to deal with him.
Instead, use Cloud Step to quickly get past, and climb the hill to defeat the archers and avoid the Soldier.
After you knock out the archers, you can defeat the stray Soldier and then defeat the Captain to stop him from respawning. For the archer on the roof, find a high hill on one side where the grass extends to a roof that you can defeat to reach the roof, which will allow you to defeat the archer and another archer on the other side. There is also a green Wisp here to absorb Will.
After knocking out all the enemies in the valley, be sure to check the big door we haven't opened yet. The large destroyed house has a wall with an entrance on the side where the Rat Captain is, and inside you'll find a green Wisp to absorb Will and recharge your Gourd.
Go up the hill and examine the houses. One has a hidden Rat Soldier waiting to attack you in the back, as well as another green Wisp inside. Above where the Rat Archers were is a larger, open building with some Licorice.
At the top of the hill is one last hut, where you'll find a large chest containing Blood of the Iron Bull, 1 Small Piece of Gold, and 4 Tiny Pieces of Gold. Additionally, if you turn the back, you can pick up a Fragrant Jade Flower.
Heading back down the hill to the road below, be sure to pass a lone hut away from the others. You'll hear whispers as you approach, and a voice will speak as you interact with the hut, telling you to leave for fear of the two-headed Rat Captains finding them. Keep talking to the mysterious voice, and after you take out the captains, they'll thank you and mention that they might be leaving to find the missing Third Prince in the west.
Heading to the left of the lone hut, you'll find a door guarded by a Rat Governor and an Archer on the roofs that connect to the one you climbed earlier. Defeat them to enter the large open field within the main part of the Village. From across the field, a voice begging to be released calls out, but in front of you is a huge creature that wants to fight you first.
Yaoguai Chief Mini-Boss Fight - Earth Wolf
This unique looking yaoguai has a lot of rushing attacks that are difficult to prepare for due to his attack patterns, and you'll want to use the Immobilize spell to help stop them if possible.
He will often start the fight with a tumbling attack, using his head to smash into you as he rolls on the ground. Wait for it to fall before dodging, then run up to it to keep attacking it while it recovers.
He can also perform a quick jump to land you, which is faster compared to his headbutt leap. If you avoid it, he will waste time searching and you will get a chance to attack him.
However, if you get caught in the grab, you will be thrown into the air and land on his hard back and horns, dealing serious damage as he kicks you out. Watch his movements, such as reaching out with two legs, to know when to avoid this move.
The Earth Wolf can also perform two quick bites in close succession, continuing to move forward with each bite to try to cover you.
If you see the boss raise his head and arms, be ready for a shoulder charge dash as he slides down the ground to try to hit you. Focus on avoidance and flanking and wait until the tackle is over to counter.
Although it often mounts on its hind legs to attack with its front fangs, there are times when its fierce swing will cause it to crash forward and be knocked upside down. After a while, he'll wave and try to hit you if you're close, but with an exposed part of his body, you can try to freeze him in place and use a charged attack - better if you use Smash or Pillar Style to drop into his ribs for extra damage.
You can also get an opportune attack after avoiding his grab by using that opportunity to strike hard with a Spirit attack from the Wandering Wight, and strong hits can also cause him to fall on his stomach.
With enough damage taken, the Earth Wolf will fall, revealing its Spirit for you to claim. You can look around the arena to harvest some Jade Lotus in the pond, or look behind the houses to find other materials like Aged Ginseng.
Be sure to head to the altar with the tiger statue to find the person asking for help from — it's the same friendly Horse Guai you may have met in Chapter 1 through a Meditation Point right after the Guanyin Temple. He'll thank you for coming, but he stresses that he'll be okay and can get away on his own. Chat with him to learn more about the rats of this region, and then take him at his word and let him make his own way out.
Be sure to open the gate nearby to unlock a shortcut back to the Village Entrance. As an added bonus, all the Rat Archers posted on the roof of the gate will jump, and you can ambush the entire group. Your Sage's Relic should now indicate an enemy with a Spirit you can capture, and you'll definitely see a tougher Rat Archer than the others with blue flames. Defeat him, and you'll absorb the Rat Archer Spirit. As an added bonus, all Rat Archers will no longer sswn here!
With them all gone, go to the gate guarded by the archers and stick to the right to find a path up to a chest, which you can loot to get 1 Small Piece of Gold and 3 Tiny Pieces of Gold.
Now, it's time to open the door guarded by the Rat Captains. In the next scene, you'll see the next major boss fight: a tiny Rat King and his oversized son.
Fighting the Yaoguai Chief Mini-Boss - King of the Flowing Sands and Second Rat Prince
There is one very important thing you need to know before discussing the rest of the match. Despite the name, the Rat King of the Flowing Sands is not your real target, and in fact you can end this fight once you defeat his son, the Second Rat Prince. However, if you choose to perform regicide, know that the prince will be enraged by his father's death, and he will get a huge damage boost with reinforced moves. But for all this risk, there's a reward — defeating the fortified Rat Prince will allow you to absorb his Spirit to use in attacks, which you wouldn't otherwise have!
When the fight starts, you'll notice the King is smart not to try to engage you in close combat. He will plead behind his son and out of sight while the Second Rat Prince tries to keep your attention with powerful swings from his spiked mace. The King can also dig underground, creating a trail of flying earth while trying to avoid you.
When left to his own devices, he will often appear to mount one of the five large stone pillars in this boss arena, and begin throwing stones from afar. A rock or two won't be fatal, but he can start throwing a lot of rocks in your direction and cause you trouble as you try to survive against the Prince.
However, if you keep the Prince between you and his father, there's a good chance he'll throw a rock at his own son's head — thanks to friendly fire!
The easiest way to get the King down again is to lure the Second Prince onto one of the pillars. Let him hit you hard, and he'll break the pillar and knock the King down to hit. He doesn't have a lot of health, and it's hard to get away, especially if you get him a little too far away from his son who can sometimes take a while to close the distance.
If you want to defeat the King but are worried about the Prince's anger, a good idea is to attack the King whenever he is exposed, but then focus your attention on getting the Prince's health down to a manageable level so that when you are defeated. the King, the Prince cannot last long.
The Second Prince himself would use basic attacks such as a vicious stab with the point of his spiked mace, or slam the ground in front of him repeatedly.
This usually ends with a quick wave of force as he raises his weapon that you have to dodge, so don't be too bold trying to counter this attack early.
If you hear him yell in the distance, prepare for a charge attack with a three hit smashing sweep attack, and wait until his last attack to retaliate with your own combo attack.
Sometimes, he'll even duck back for a quick headbutt slam, but the move will usually stagger on his own, and a quick dodge will give you plenty of time to land on him.
It's when you kill the King that you really have to worry. He can be powered up by blows of air as his mace heats up, and now his strikes will consist of cracks that explode around the impact site of his weapon!
His new charge attack has a jumping slam that will create a ring fissure around him, which you'll need to dodge instead of trying to counter.
His overhead slam can raise a line of cracks from the strike, making sidestepping your best bet.
Expect his swings to hit harder and move faster, often twice in a row. If he jumps in the air past you, he'll often go for a lunging sweeping strike that will send him sliding back past you, but gives you a chance to dodge next to his strike to hit him where he is. land
Another scary new move is that he does a slow spin that ends with a weapon throw at you. He will quickly follow up with a leaping attack diving to reach his mace, and then plucking it from the ground and swinging it, which should quell any thoughts of trying to attack at this point.
Ideally, the lower your health before killing his father, the less time you have to worry about this stage if you can rush him. If you don't kill his father, he will run as soon as the Second Prince falls. Otherwise, you can help yourself to the Spirit of the Second Prince, as well as the Pungent Flesh Chunk.
Valley of Despair
At the end of the battle, the headless man playing the lute returns to continue his ballad. Face a large stone door, and a small glowing statue near it is unobtainable unless you hold Sterness of Stone and Keeness of Tiger. If you listen to the headless man's song, he will give a hint: To defeat the yellow rat sage who rules this place, you must defeat his men carrying the key to the door.
From here, things can change and are more open than the paths in Chapter 1. To the right of the sealed door is a bridge to Fright Valley (and there's a Ginsengling you can defeat for its herbs). To the left is the Valley of Despair, and beyond it the Crouching Tiger Temple.
For this walkthrough, we'll finish the last sub-region of Sandgate before going to Fright Valley first, and then to the Crouching Tiger Temple, but you're free to explore where you want.
You'll find a new Shrine to rest in, not far to the left of the sealed door. From the Shrine, there is a cave entrance guarded by a Rat Soldier and Rat Archer supporting him on some scaffolding. Go to the side of the soldier to fight the archer first.
At the other end of the tunnel, the path opens into a large interior valley with sunlight falling to the left. Stay on the right side for now, and you'll find a large door that can't be opened from this side.
Past the door, you'll find a wooden structure built into a stone wall with a glowing pot just out of your reach. To get here, look for a ledge below that you can jump over, and follow the path to the right to go up again. Smash the glowing pot to get your second Awaken Wine Worm to upgrade your Gourds' Drink. Just remember that you can do this by going back to Shen Monkey in Chapter 1.
Go down again, and you'll be attacked from a ledge by a zombie-like Blazebone. These creatures throw bones at you, but can't do much else so evade or spin your staff before jumping up to kill it.
To the right, there is a thin crack full of Fire Bellflowers that you can harvest. The fissure leads to a fallen rock that forms a bridge to another Blazebone and Licorice, and a path to beyond.
Before you do that, go left under the sunlight to a large rat statue and a curved wall, as well as a large pit. The pit contains one final main boss that you must face, which can come in a number of ways.
Yaoguai Chief Mini-Boss Fight - Unang Prinsipe ng Flowing Sands
If you didn't kill the King of the Flowing Sands when you fought him and his second son, he will be able to summon his larger first son to knock you out (the First Prince will immediately face the King himself). If you killed the King and Prince, you can throw the Pungent Flesh Chunk to wake the Prince from his lair.
As a bigger opponent than the Second Prince, expect a lot of big attacks in your direction. He's a wild and unpredictable enemy, so be sure to use Cloud Step to dodge if you're not sure what's coming, then dash back at him from the sides.
The First Prince will usually start with a lunging two-hand slam attack after he stands on his hind legs shaking off a lot of dust, but you can dodge to the side and keep attacking while he recovers.
Other general attacks include alternating hand slams that land in 1 or 2 consecutive hits. He can also bring his hand down to the side first, and then sweep it forward in a slower swipe that will require you to dodge back instead of moving next to his hand.
Some of the more terrifying attacks that the First Prince could use would have him standing with his arms out to the side, then stumbling forward in a huge swing as he fell onto his side, covering a large area from by swiping the arm and hitting the body. Make sure to stay away from the side where he raises his arms and you'll avoid him swinging in the opposite direction.
He also has a surprisingly fast lunge that is very difficult to avoid if you don't look for the subtle cue of him slowly stretching one arm backwards before lunging forward with a quick sliding swipe attack. If you see this early, you can also Immobilize him to distract him before he can do it.
If you try to dodge and attack from the side, remember that he can use a quick tail swipe to stagger you, or quickly swing his arm back to get you out of flanking him, so don't get too comfortable.
Even though he was as big as he was with a bigger health pool, he wasn't as fierce as the enraged Second Prince. However, note that there is a **secret trick to this fight**: If you encourage him to do one of his bigger slam attacks while your back is against the curved wall, his strikes can become cause the wall to crack - reveal a secret!
Once he is defeated, he will drop the Arhat Gold Piece Key Item. We'll need it for a sidequest elsewhere in this chapter.
The Secret Tomb of Loong
If you're lucky, the First Prince's attacks can form a giant crack in the slightly rounded wall filled with small statues on the edge of the boss arena, creating a hole you can crawl through. If you didn't trigger it, don't worry. You can break the wall by yourself, but it will require a big attack, bigger than your little monkey can deal with. However, specific transformations can get the job done - like the Wandering Wight's Spirit headbutt attack, or the Azure Dust transformation spell found elsewhere in this chapter.
On the other side of the crack, you'll enter a large tomb with a chest next to a mural. It holds the Loong Scale - a very important item that allows you to access some secret bosses!
There is one last part of the Valley of Despair to find before returning to the next region. Climb up from the pit where the boss will cross the fallen rock, and you'll find a crack in the wall to jump through.
On the other side, you will encounter a very powerful Swift Bat. These enemies can rush at you very quickly with their powerful swings to hit you hard, or hit you from a distance with force waves. This one in particular is stronger than the others because after defeating it, you get the Swift Bat Spirit.
A door to the right leads outside, but before you exit, be sure to look for a blocked door opposite the opening in the wall that you can knock down. The outer cave here is full of debris, and two more Swift Bats to fight.
Be sure to search the very back of the room, behind the tiger statue, and you'll find an altar with a cauldron that you can open to reveal a Celestial Nonary Pill, which increases your maximum stamina!
Finally, exit the room where the first Swift Bat finds the canyon passage down to the Crouching Tiger Temple.
Due to the layout of this area and the progress of some sidequests, we will return here later, and continue by traveling back to where the Second Prince was defeated and crossing the bridge to Fright Cliff itself.
