True crime fans are about to get a treat. Netflix, Ryan Murphy, and Ian Brennan have released a chilling teaser for the upcoming second season of the true crime anthology series Monsters. As a sequel to Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the next part of the anthology series titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, follows the conviction of the Menendez brothers in 1996 for the murders of their parents.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch are set to play brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez while Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny will play José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez. Along with these actors is a cast consisting of Nathan Lane as Dominick Dunne, Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson, Leslie Grossman as Judalon Smyth, Dallas Roberts as Dr. Jerome Oziel, Paul Adelstein as David Conn, Jason Butler Harner as detective Les Zoeller, Enrique Murciano as Carlos Baralt, Michael Gladis as Tim Rutten, Drew Powell as detective Tom Linehan, Charlie Hall as Craig Cignarelli, Gil Ozeri as Dr. William Vicary, Jeff Perry as Peter Hoffman, Tessa Auberjonois as Dr. Laurel Oziel, Tanner Stine as Perry Berman, Larry Clarke as Brian Andersen, Jade Pettyjohn as Jamie Pisarcik, and Marlene Forte as Marta Cano.
During the actual court case a few years ago, brothers Lyle and Erik said they killed their parents out of fear. According to them, after years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse from their parents, they made this decision. The prosecution argued that the brothers killed their parents to inherit their property. Currently, Lyle and Erik are serving life sentences without parole. Joining Murphy and Brennan in executive producing are Bardem, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, David McMillan, Louise Shore, and Carl Franklin. Episodic directors include Brennan, Franklin, Max Winkler, Paris Barclay, and Michael Uppendahl.
