This year marks the decade of URWERK's EMC, a model that once won two awards at the 2014 GPHG awards in Geneva. To celebrate this milestone, the independent watchmaker released a new reimagining of the model, dubbed the EMC SR-71.
As a 10-piece limited edition, this special reference now comes in a new and improved titanium and steel construction. Its unique case shape measures 47.5mm in diameter and includes a crank handle in SR-71 alloy.
To mimic the look of an instrument panel, the watch face has four separate dials, which provide readings for hours, minutes, seconds, as well as power reserve. Regarding the new timepiece, Martin Frei, URWERK's co-founder and artistic director, explained that “The watch face is a personal cockpit; apart from the exact time, EMC also provides information about how it works and how it is 'operated'. It was a unique and exciting experience.”
