OpenAI announced Monday that ChatGPT has a new feature that helps search for products online. This further strengthens the fight against Google, which is currently under pressure due to issues with its market dominance.
Starting this Monday, you can now find and compare items using just natural conversation. No more scrolling, OpenAI said in a post on X. You can also ask follow-up questions and compare products easily.
ChatGPT's new shopping feature is initially focused on fashion, beauty, and home electronics. All product recommendations come from the web, not sponsored or ads, according to OpenAI.
To compete with the speed of AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Google has also put its own Gemini assistant in their search results. It provides AI-generated answers above normal links.
The fight heated up even more last week when an OpenAI executive testified that they were interested in buying Chrome if Google was forced to sell it due to the ongoing US antitrust case.
