A police officer died after an accident while riding his motorcycle at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, near a school on Gorordo Avenue in Brgy. Kamputhaw, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Police Corporal Ridrid Ordiñeza Castañeda, 35 years old, who lives in Upper Pakigne Spring Village, Minglanilla, Cebu. He is assigned to the Sawang Calero Police Station of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
According to initial investigation, Castañeda was returning home after attending the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) of their police station on Saturday night. Upon arriving at the scene, he lost control of his motorcycle due to the slippery road caused by the rain, causing his motorcycle to hit a tree on the side of the road.
According to police investigation, Castañeda was thrown from the motorcycle and his helmet was removed. He was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) by an ambulance from Brgy. Kamputhaw, but he died before reaching the hospital.
