Caught in Boracay Island on April 25 were Liang Jianhua (40) and Gong ZongLian (38) suspected of being the parents of Wenli Gong — the woman connected to the kidnap-slay of businessman Anson Que and his driver Armanie Pabillo. According to Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, they were caught while boarding a hired helicopter for falsification of legal documents and hiding true identity.
Wanky said they are still investigating whether they are really Gong's parents because they are only 40 and 38. The couple are accompanied by three boys who are believed to be Gong's children. The children are now in the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
They reportedly arrived in Boracay on April 10, a day after the bodies of Que and Pabillo were found in Rodriguez, Rizal. They paid up to P500,000 to a travel agency for their travel, stay, and activities on the island. They were supposed to stay in Boracay until May 5 but planned to leave on April 21.
According to a tour guide, they retreated when they saw police at Godofredo P. Ramos Airport. Because of this, they remained on the island until their air transport was arranged. Wenli Gong, according to Wanky, may have escaped but is still in Region 6.
There is a P5 million reward for anyone who can point to the whereabouts of Wenli Gong.
