According to initial investigation, the trailer truck could not handle the road gradient and reverse, causing other vehicles to be run over after the container van it was carrying overturned. One of the fatalities was a 53-year-old jeepney driver, who was found under the van using a crane and backhoe. The mother and daughter who were riding in the sedan also died.
The rescue operation by personnel of the BFP, PNP, DRRMO, LGU, and volunteers lasted more than 6 hours. One of the survivors was a woman who was pinned in the jeep, who was carefully removed and taken to the hospital. Some of the survivors recounted how suddenly and quickly the incident happened, and said it's good that they are still alive.
The driver of the trailer truck is currently at the Marikina Police Custodial Facility while the investigation continues.
