9 Chinese miners were caught in Barangay Chua, Bagumbayan because they did not have a working permit to work for a mining company.
According to Brig. Gen. Michael Santos of the 603rd Infantry Brigade, the foreigners have passports but they do not have legal papers to work at the Helen Grace S. Camsa Precious Metal Mining Co.
The company is currently exploring copper and gold in the area. No update was given on how long the Chinese have been working in the area.
The Bureau of Immigration is now in custody of the captured miners. They are being investigated on how they were able to enter and work without proper documentation.
The joint operation by the Philippine Army and Immigration to ensure that all foreign workers in the country are legal is still ongoing.
