VP Sara Duterte thanked the people for continuing to pray for her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, while in Samar for a two-day Visita Iglesia.
According to Sara, some locals came to her and said they prayed a lot for the former president to return home from The Hague, Netherlands, where he is currently imprisoned due to the ICC case regarding crimes against humanity.
He said his prayers during Visita Iglesia were for the nation and his father. But he didn't say anything about updates on the case because he said, only lawyers should speak.
It is unclear whether she met with any local officials. According to Sara, the reason she chose Samar was because there was an early flight to Calbayog City from Davao. That's why they arrived early and were able to visit the churches right away.
Her visit was unannounced, so locals were surprised when they saw her at the church. Many took pictures with her. It was Sara's first time visiting a church in Samar, which is known as the bailiwick of President Marcos Jr., who was her former ally.
