Maria Louise Ragojo nearly died after eating shrimp before her night jog. She said in a viral Facebook post that she ate 9 pieces of shrimp cooked in lime soda and oyster sauce around 6:20 p.m. That night, while jogging, she suddenly felt a strange itching, skin pain, and swelling of her face.
Not long after, he had difficulty breathing, turned pale, and his hands and feet turned blue. He was rushed to the hospital, where it was discovered that he had suffered from anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that can be fatal if not treated immediately. According to Ragojo, “I was so weak, I couldn’t speak. That’s when I realized, this is life and death.”
A doctor explained that anaphylaxis can occur from food, medicine, dust, and even exercise. He said that even simple symptoms, such as rashes or itching, should not be ignored. Sometimes, going to the hospital immediately can save a life.
