Trigger Warning: This article contains mention of suicide.
Nicky Katt, the actor who played Clint Bruno in the hit film Dazed and Confused, has died at the age of 54. According to a report by TMZ, he was found dead in his Los Angeles home on April 8. His landlord was the first to see him.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Katt committed suicide. In a statement to Deadline, her sister Elise Ravenscroft said that Katt had been battling her depression for a long time, quietly and courageously.
“This illness should not be experienced by any family, but many do,” said Elise. She added, “Mental illness is real, powerful, and often invisible. Hopefully we can help break the silence and stigma around mental health.”
In addition to Dazed and Confused, Katt has also appeared in other films and TV shows such as Boston Public, Boiler Room, School of Rock, Friends, and A Time to Kill. She was last seen in 2018 in an episode of the Hulu show Casual.
Katt married Annie Morse in 1999, but they divorced in 2001, according to TMZ.
