Hyundai has revealed teaser images of its new concept car, the INSTEROID — a futuristic and gaming-inspired version of its popular INSTER electric vehicle. The car is expected to be revealed in full in April 2025, and its design showcases a fusion of pixel-perfect aesthetics and real-life performance cues.
The name “INSTEROID” is a combination of “INSTER” and “steroid,” indicating a more robust and improved version of the sub-compact EV that has been a best-seller in Europe and South Korea since its launch in June 2024.
Teaser visuals reveal aggressive arcade-racer styling: flared wheel arches, air vents, oversized 21-inch wheels, and a powerful rear spoiler and diffuser. Signature Pixel LED lights and video game-inspired controls further enhance the car’s playful personality. Hyundai says the INSTEROID is a “dream car” created to bring joy to EV drivers.
INSTEROID is not for production, but a concept car that showcases Hyundai's ambitions for creative design. Every detail of the car, from the cockpit's instrument cluster to the brake design, has been crafted to reflect its youthful and creative spirit. INSTEROID was also showcased in a digital time-attack game and a tie-in to KartRider Rush+.
